About the Client

The client was a European market leader in facility management and a provider for real-estate services like building technology, infrastructure, interior design, marketing, leasing.

Headquartered in Germany, the client’s wide range of real-estate commercial services span across its elite customers in the European and UK geographies; such as leading industrial companies, investment funds, bank and insurance companies, the public sector, developers, owners and users.

Problem Statement

Like any thriving business in the digital era, the real-estate provider had a vision to adopt a digitization strategy to cater to the requirements of their customers. The client believes that the roll-out of digital solutions has a significant contribution to their overall business development in terms of customer acquisition alongside offering a broad range of high-quality services.

In particular, while embarking on this digital enterprise data journey in 2019 the organization realized the following:

  • There was an absence of a unified solution/platform for obtaining customer insights that were required for business development
  • Each BI department responsible for gathering/analyzing business data existed in its own data island and its associated costs
  • There was a lack of enterprise data strategy
  • Industry and best practices in BI were missing

Governance, security and privacy standards around data management were missing

The Challenge

The key requirements of the client were to:

  • Inculcate a data-driven culture within the organization
  • Adopt a scalable BI practice to house single-source of facts
  • Integrate data from various sources of data such as ERP systems, users, IoT and external data from social media
  • Upgrade the BI landscape by replacing existing software solutions with 100% cloud based technology platform for the new data warehouse
  • Transform the BI landscape without downtime

The Solution

To start with, the client’s key requirement was to ingest data from ERP systems as quickly as possible while also focusing on a scalable, adaptable and agile architecture for a future-proof Data Warehouse.

Bearing this requirement in mind, Scalefree was instrumental in:

    • Architecting, designing and implementing an end-to-end BI solution using the Data Vault 2.0 practice
    • Implementing the data warehouse using the client’s strategic cloud provider namely Microsoft Azure services
    • Automating 90% of the end-to-end data pipelines based on DV 2.0 using WhereScape
  • Exercising data governance through well-defined agile processes, data lineage, security, GDPR classification and documentation
  • Designing and building the key BI reports in PowerBI for monitoring order workflows thereby enabling improved customer interaction

Optimizing the data delivery mechanism and performance of BI reports

Tangible Results for the Client

  1. Major cost savings in the order of Mi €
  2. Reduction in turnaround time from 2 years to 6 months
  3. Roll-out of two important BI reports (ERP systems) within 1.5 years

  • A one-stop shop for end-user (customer) interaction and monitoring the status of work orders
